Healthy Skin with Rooibos Tea

Beautiful skin. Healthy skin. Good exercise. Balanced diet. Boost the skin by applying Rooibos tea. This beverage is gaining a huge following, not only due to its colour and flavourful taste but because of its significant health benefits especially its positive effects on the largest organ of the body, the skin.

What is Rooibos Tea?

For centuries, the South African people have been drinking this tea prepared from the leaves of Rooibos that belong to the legume family of plants. The broom-like plant is grown in the West Cape Province of South Africa. Unlike greenand oolong tea that come from Camellia plants, Rooibos is produced from a different plant, the Aspalathus Linearis. The Rooibos leaves are oxidised, similar to how traditional teas are processed, to obtain the distinct reddish colour and enhance its nutty flavour. The South African people drink it with milk and sugar and is sometimes used in cooking sauces and other dishes. It has been traditionally used to treat asthma, allergies and other dermatological problems.  This is where the idea for the Made from Earth Rooibos Tea Face Scrub originated.

How does it benefit the skin?

Our Rooibos Tea Face Scrub contains Alpha-hydroxy acid and zinc, two compounds that encourages healthy skin. Drinking red tea creates a soothing effect on the skin and thus reduces skin irritations and keeps the skin free from acne, rashes, sunburns and eczema. The tea can a be prepared as a face pack to help alleviate skin problems and when used twice a week, it can create a clear and radiant skin. Magnesium is also a core ingredient of the drink which aids the nervous system to remain strong and healthy - keeping stress and tension levels down. The red tea is caffeine free and acts as a relaxing sedative encouraging deep sleep. It is well-known that being stress-free and getting a good sleep are contributing factors in getting that smooth healthy skin.

This heritage drink from South Africa also has 50% more antioxidants than green tea. Rooibos comprises of nothofagin and aspalathin which have anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. A lab study in England last year exhibited how 11 dart frogs raised on water topped up with Rooibos were protected from getting fungal infection. Proof that the tea has wonderful effects on the skin indeed. The anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory antioxidants found in Rooibos also attack free-radicals, the byproduct of normal cell functions and are the main culprit of ageing. Research shows that the antioxidant found in tea is highly potent than those found in common fruits and vegetables. So if you cannot eat your daily serve of vegetables, better grab a cup of Rooibos as an alternative. You would be helping your body delay the ageing process while limiting the associated damages to the skin.

Looks like the face scrub offers a lot of benefits with 50% more antioxidants than green tea and anti-bacterial/viral/fungal properties! I bet this is effective on our skin, especially on sensitive ones...

By the way, I just wanna ask if this Rooibos Tea Face Scrub is also safe for teens? My cousins are asking me about this Face Scrub but I'm not that sure. Their skin is sensitive and I'm afraid to suggest products right away so I thought of asking this first.

This is the first time I heard about Rooibos Tea. I'm really clueless about this kind of tea but this article opened up my mind. It's amazing that there's also a Rooibos face scrub! People can drink the tea and apply the face scrub to improve the texture of their skin.

i'm also excited to try it. all the research seems legit too, because those nutrients do help your skin
